The focus isnt upon Nukes as the ultimate terror anymore.

With regard to Jesus...
I meant that as A recruit to the church I heard Little of eternal progression. The focus was upon "Jesus' during my recruitment.
You say that long term Mormons complain of hearing little about Jesus
and mostly about eternal progression.
This appears to confirm my view that Jesus, in the Mormon church, is used during recruitment phase, basically because of the Christian background in the Western world.
The recruits initially see what they expect to see.
The deeper (totally unique)doctrines of Mormonism are unveiled to the recruit over time as he becomes more involved.
Do you agree with this assessment?

You say the business with blacks being accepted into full church status wasnt caused by the civil rights movement. Okay. Lets just call it convenient timing. From my own position, I have researched enough churches, however, to know that decisions in heaven are VERY MUCH influenced by political currents on earth.

You say, susan, that preexistant beings come here to experience,"mortality" rather than "fallenness". Does this mean that your church does not believe in sin? Does your church believe that anything one deems fit to partake of is acceptable, because there is no such thing as sin?

If Joseph Smith was married to say, Henry Jacobs wife, Zina "for eternity'
and Henry Jacobs was married to her "for time". Would Joseph Smith be within his rights to have sexual relations with that woman whilst she was married to Henry Jacobs. In this life?

Would it correct to say that anyone of my ancestors who is baptised while dead with myself as proxy,falls under my jurisdiction in the heavenly state?
In other words, they become subject to me thruout eternity.

I mentioned some things as "slippery issues"in your church. I must clarrify they were only slippery for me. I could not establish the facts from your literature. I didnt mean the Church was being slippery and sneaky.

Well, I think youll find that the Sun, our own sun, rotates around the centre of the Milky way.Everythings moving.
Hell, Im only quoting what the Mormon books say anyway.
Maybe the planet God lives on rotates around Kolob over a thousand years.
I never been a Mormon, really, though I went to meetings for a while.
But I do have a lot of their books and magazines, which Ive read, and Im just quoting from them.
Our friend Susan, you will note, hasnt addressed anything that I have said so far. Guess there must be a reason for that eh? Maybe she cant refute any of it.

Stopped going to meetings when I was 23.
Disfellowshipped at 29.
Apostate based on history research at 35.
"Violently opposed to the truth" by 38.

Yardick.
The only thing I can see relevant to your question is that God lives close to a star called "Kolob". This is apparently explained in the "book of Abraham".A revolution of Kolob around its central sun takes 1000 years. Thus Gods reckoning time in thousand year lots.

The "Ensign" (Mormon WT) article from Jan,1998 certainly indicates that a "premortal" council in heaven got together and planned that Adam would come to Earth to sin, and Jesus would come to earth to redeem us. It was all predestined and preplanned.
The article says (page 15)..."We know from latter day revelation that our existance did not begin with our birth on this earth and that we are eternal beings"....

Preexistant beings coming,by agreement,into this physicality for the purpose of experiencing "Fallenness". New Agers will recognize this belief as their own belief in "Seperation". The Mormons are a New Age group!!

well the Mormons used to believe that God inhabited a physical body.
Whether they still believe that is a slippery issue.

Joseph Smith, in "times and Seasons" Volume 5,page 613, said:

..."First, God Himself,who sits enthroned in yonder heavens,is a man like unto one of yourselves, that is the great secret...I am going to tell you how God came to be a God...God himself, the Father of us all dwelt on an earth...You have got to learn how to be Gods yourself".

Mormonism seems to hold a belief that a man, thru correct ritual, and obedience to the Church, can ascend into the rank of Godhood in the Afterlife. Assumedly becoming a creator God himself, creating his own planets, creations, etc.

Heber C Kimball (member of the Mormon 'GB')In "Journal of Discourses"

..."then we shall go back to our Father and God,who is connected with one still further back,and this Father is connected with one still further back"....

I believe this is known, in Church parlance, as "Eternal Progression".
A man, thru obedience, etc, can become a God,a creator, a more powerful God, and still MORE powerful, etc...

Now I dont know if the Church still pushes these beliefs or not.
If they DO hold these beliefs still, they are covered over from public view. Anyone going to a Mormon meeting for the first time will hear nothing of such beliefs. He will only here about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
It is possible the Mormons have toned their belief in Eternal progression down, as too controversial, along with their former beliefs in polygamy and that Black people arent acceptable to enter Eternal progression.

The Mormons main book of prophecy is called the "Doctrine and Covenants".
In the past 150 years there have only been TWO "revelations", given to the Church that are worthy to be added into the D/C.
The first was in 1890.It is entitled "Official Declaration 1".
The Ghist of it is that Polygamy has to be abandoned,because the U.S government is persecuting the Church out of existance over polygamy.

The second added "revelation" in D/C was added in 1978.
It says Black people can now be members of the Priesthood (equal to a baptized publisher, no big deal)One wonders that the 60s Civil Rights Movement might have prompted this change in Doctrine.

What about verse 26 of Matthew 24:
"If they shall say to you...he is in the secret chamber, believe it not".
What is the "secret chamber"?
Well the Adventists say Christ is currently in the "holy of Holies" and has been since 1844. What is that if not a secret chamber?
But could a secret chamber not be interpreted as a place in which He cannot be SEEN?

What is your ex-JW retirement plan?

i have been talking to a few people in chat recently about retirement strategies for ex-dubs.

it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that many people who exit the borg are really in a very poor situation in terms of their retirement prospects.

if it wasnt bad enough that there was always the pressure to avoid higher education and the corresponding quality jobs afforded by such, many dubs were just plain conned out of their resources by the borg in thinking that the end was just around the corner and you should pioneer, even if it meant selling your assets, going into debt, or turning down good job opportunities.

What brother. Ive worked 30 years in menial jobs and now, my house paid off, Im supposed to start slaving my ass off to save for my retirement? Fuck that.
Im living for the "Now". Doing what I like (Within reason). What happens when Im 60?
Who cares?
